Master Goldsmith Jeweller

Peter Minturn MNZM

Peter & June Minturn emigrated to New Zealand in 1961, after answering an advert in a London newspaper. From there Peter to begin his extraordinarily successful jewellery career in the employ of a company in Auckland.

He moved to Christchurch and back to Auckland within a few years to take up his own practice in the heart of Auckland city.  His popularity grew and so did the workshop. The business moved to Remuera & Parnell, where Peter Minturn Creations quickly became synonymous for creative & flamboyant designs that spoke to everyday New Zealanders as well as many significant global dignitaries, along the way.

Peters designs & collections constantly broke the rules on what was considered the norm. Peter looked exclusively to understand & create jewellery that reflected his client's needs, tastes & budget.

Peter was the first NZ Manufacturing Jeweller to be elected a member of the NZ Society of Industrial Designers and awarded the NZID Council's Design Mark for his jewellery productions in 1971.  In his career Peter has passionately given back to the New Zealand trade. In recognition of his work, Peter was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2009 New Year honours.

Today, Chris & Lee are honoured to build on the legacy of Chris's father, Peter, with many of his designs inspired by the people that Peter has met over the 60+ years that he enjoyed making jewellery for.
