Colour is key with the hue; tone & saturation being valued the most. Rarely are Sapphires natural in colour, but when they are they command a great price. Most Sapphires are treated in some manner before they are cut, and as such treatments are an established practice within the Sapphire trade and has been for hundreds of years.

Peter loved the years he spent at the school. Precious moments in a master/student relationship, where Peter succeeded in lighting an intellectual response in learners & connected with their innermost being. This will never be repeated.

For many of us, our connection to Peter remains strong by wearing the jewellery he made for us. To Dad handmade jewellery was his first love. Being a Goldsmith Jeweller was never a job but a passion.

here are many different specimens of Opal from around the world but in my humble opinion, the most desirable is the precious gemstones from the Australian Never Never. They are resplendent with colour aka "play of colour" that can be seen from any angle. They are a real delight.

Beryl is one of my favourites; I find them mysterious and enchanting. This month, we will explore the species that gives us such intensely coloured gems like Aquamarine, Emerald, and Heliodor.
